North Hop on the Road 2016 - Festival Round Up...

So 2016 has been and gone and my goodness did we cram a lot in! We kicked things off in March 2016 with our very first North Hop Edinburgh festival at Assembly Rooms on George Street. This one day, two session festival featured a banging line-up of breweries and foodies in the Beer Hall (Music Hall), and some amazing bars, non-alcoholic fixes and sweet treats in the Cocktail Lounge (Ballroom). Folk enjoyed a varied selection of Hop Sessions, and no end of fun with our Photo Booth and props! The Festival Brew for this one was created by local beer aficionados Stewart Brewing, and was a 5.3% Moscow Mule Saison, packed with fresh ginger, a quirky take on the classic Moscow Mule cocktail. And the Festival Gin, which was available to sample and take home from the festival, was created by the legendary James (also our official festival photographer) from Electric Spirit Co. Following on from his other hugely popular juniper led gins he used three different geographical European junipers to create this one and it went down a storm! No plans are yet in place for a 2017 edition of the festival but we are working on it!

Next up was North Hop Aberdeen over May Day Bank Holiday Weekend at the AECC. This was our first visit to the AECC, with our first Aberdeen festival being held in the much smaller Lemon Tree in 2015, so it was a brand new layout and set-up but it proved pretty popular! Things kicked off with a buzzing Saturday afternoon session, followed by a jam-packed Saturday evening session, and then a quieter, more chilled, Sunday afternoon session. For this one the Beer Hall and Cocktail Lounge was combined creating an awesome atmosphere, something we are looking to do for all festivals moving forward. BrewDog's Truck Norris was in the house complete with an ever-popular Beer Garden and the extensive selection of breweries, bars, foodies, and market traders at the festival ensured folk had plenty to keep them busy with across the sessions! The Festival Brew was an exciting collaboration between Spey Valley Brewery and Holy Grass Vodka, aptly named Holy Spey APA. This tasty APA used the Holy Grass botanical used in Dunnet Bay Distillers vodka combined with their classic APA recipe to create a very unique brew. The Festival Gin was a Chilli & Ginger Eden Mill creation offered up in cute little 200ml bottles. The next Aberdeen festival is happening on Easter Weekend this year at the AECC and boy is the line-up looking tasty so watch this space...

And our final festival of 2016 was another brand new one, North Hop Glasgow at SWG3. Held across one day, two sessions we took over the venue and brought the famous NH Beer Hall and Cocktail Lounge vibes to Glasgow's up and coming West End. Slightly smaller in scale to the Edinburgh edition but still plenty tasty delights for festival goers to get themselves stuck in to! The Glasgow Festival Brew was a Drygate special 'Steam Pink', a 5% California Common Steam Beer with raspberries, delicious. Throughout the sessions festival goers were treated to lots of great music acts and DJ's, live art from festival favourite BrewDog Fisher, fun in the Cocktail Lounge Photo Booth and lots of interaction with our awesome exhibitors. The food especially at this one was outstanding and we are planning much of the same and lots more for our comeback at SWG3 this June!
