North Hop On The Road

Saturday 20th February 2016

2016 is shaping up to be a rather exciting year for North Hop! Following on from the success of two successful sold-out festivals and numerous taster and pop-up events in 2015 North Hop is now taking to the road bringing all the hop fun of our craft beer culture festivals to cities across Scotland...

First festival on the tour is the brand new North Hop Edinburgh at the stunning Assembly Rooms on George Street. This one day, two session festival is happening on the 5th March and will be jam packed with awesome breweries, bars, foodies, market traders, art, music and lots of fun. We are taking over the full first floor with the Beer Hall being located in the Music Hall and the Cocktail Lounge suitably located in the majestic Ballroom.

The full line-up for the festival can be found here but we thought we would point out a few 'not to miss' highlights for the festival...

Festival Brew - A special one-off limited edition brew inspired by North Hop's fusion of craft beer and cocktails, the Moscow Mule Saison from Stewart Brewing is sure to be a hit amongst the beer drinkers and cocktail lovers alike. This keg beer comes in at 5.3% and will be available at the Stewart Brewing bar in the Beer Hall.

Festival Gin - Another one-off special, this gin distilled by Electric Spirit Co. is a super-dry gin made using juniper berries from 3 different geographical regions. All gins from this distillery have flown off the shelves to date and we don't expect this one to be any different. Try the gin straight up, in a serve, or in a cocktail at the Pop-Up-Gin-Stop bar in the Cocktail Lounge, then bag yourself a bottle to take home from our Merchandise stand outside the Beer Hall.

Up Front Brewing - This is a rather exciting exclusive for North Hop...brand new micro-brewery Up Front Brewing from Glasgow will be launching at North Hop Edinburgh! These beers have literally just been brewed and all you lucky festival go'oers will be amongst the first to get your hands on them. Offering up two beers (an IPA and a stout) to start, both brewed at Drygate Brewery, Head Brewer Jake then hopes to grow his offerings with the help from you, the drinkers, so head along to his bar in the Beer Hall and show some support!

Edinburgh Beer Factory - And this time we have got another brewery making their debut festival appearance, the family-run Edinburgh Beer Factory, with their first and currently only offering, Paolozzi Lager. They may only have one beer on the list for the festival but don't let that put you off, it's a pretty awesome one at that!

El Cartel - Not only will these local Mexican street food legends be serving up a selection of their delicious tacos in the Beer Hall they will also have their awesome frozen margaritas to wash them down with. Jam packed full of flavour and colour this stand is not to be missed!

Sweet Treats in the Cocktail Lounge - If you like your treats sweet and laced with alcohol then you are heading to right place with North Hop Edinburgh. In the Cocktail Lounge you will find Stew n' Drew's with an awesome range of ice creams and sorbets, with their whisky ice cream being a huge hit in the past, then there is Poporopo with their 'amazing' flavoured gourmet popcorn, including Gin + Tonic flavour, and then sticking with the gin theme there is The Marshmallow Lady (think boozy and fabulously delicious marshmallows), and to round it all off head for Stacy Hannah Chocolates for some divine cocktail inspired treats created special for the festival!

Festival Art - Funking things up a little bit in the Beer Hall you will find Craig Fisher (most commonly known as Fish and normally found decorating BrewDog's bars and general presence) creating some pretty awesome festival themed art! This pen duelling, beer loving, artist extraordinaire loves to chat as he works so made sure you hit him up to see what he is up to and if you are lucky he might even let you get involved...

With a line-up of 30 exciting exhibitors and over 10 different and varied music acts these highlights don't even scratch the surface of all fun that is to be had at North Hop Edinburgh so you will just need to head along and check it out for yourself! Tickets are on sale now via Usher Hall, online and at their Box Office and via Tickets Scotland, online and at their Box Office. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available on the door so to avoid missing out grab those tickets quick!
