Hello North Hop, From Your Dundee Ambassador!
Thursday 16th August 2018
Well, hello there it’s Dawn, your Dundee North Hop Ambassador. I had often admired North Hop from afar, thinking ‘if only something like this would happen in Dundee’ and I am so pleased to be able to help in whatever way I can to spread the word and make the event a success.
Dundee’s industrial past has grown a population of down to earth people with a great sense of humour, innovative entrepreneurial spirit and a support network of a flourishing creative community.
I’ve lived in Dundee for more than 13 years and have not only seen the transformation of the city unfold before me, but have always believed in Dundee’s potential to be a creative, exciting little city full of possibility.
I was lucky enough to study at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and later worked in that beautiful brutalist building. The art college has such a fantastic reputation and I am always amazed at the talent that blossoms every May at the degree show.
Everything in Dundee is pretty much within walking distance and my favourite area has got to be the Perth Road. My local is the Art Bar and I love visiting the record shops, cafes and restaurants for some delicious authentic cuisine.
One of the things that I love about Dundee is that I could literally go into any bar or café and I would probably know someone – usually because I’m an overly excited social butterfly with a penchant for gin, cocktails and fine wine. And whisky. And beer.
Follow me on Insta (@DawnyCaramel) and Twitter (@TheDawnCampbell) for my latest Dundee adventures and be sure to ask me about Spirit of North Hop when I’m super chatty waiting for an obligatory espresso martini… 🍸
