Festival Director’s Top Tips for #northhopavi
Thursday 9th November 2017
With just one more sleep until we return to Macdonald Aviemore Resort for our second Aviemore festival this year, I wanted to give you all a few recommendations on things you definitely do not want to miss at the festival this winter! If you haven't already make sure you grab those tickets online, because we can't guarantee there will be any left on the door. Check out the North Hop Aviemore page for details on accommodation deals, late night buses to Inverness and our special ‘Recovery Brunch’ at The Old Bridge Inn too...
Our fruity and rather pink Festival Brew - for the Festival Brew this time around we could have opted for an IPA or a pale ale to keep things neutral but no, we wanted to shake things up a bit and after initial talks with 71 Brewing from Dundee we knew it was going to be something pretty special! Tying in perfectly with our apres-ski theme this is one beer at the festival you don’t want to miss, Rhuby Weiss is a 5.5% Rhubharb Hefeweizen and your token will get you a ½ pint.
Halloumi Fries from Chick + Pea - Figure this suggestion needs very little description! I have tried these bad boys, they are simply awesome and somewhat legendary so I suggest you get stuck in ASAP.
Espresso Martinis and Black G&T’s - We all know what an espresso martini is and how fine they are but who knows what a black g&t is? Head to Bernard, the sexy black van in the Cocktail Lounge to find out just what the Linton & Co crew are up to with craft spirits and single origin coffee liqueur…
Curry and Lager - This combo may be a bit of a cliche but I don't care, it's too good to miss! Of course I’m not talking about any old lager, I’m talking about Eyeball Brewing’s Orange Lager, a dark lager with orange, which is super tasty. Pair this little number up with a Lamb Madras from Bowl Food and you are onto an absolute winner!
Up and Coming Scottish Talent - I was going to pick out a few ‘must see’ acts for #northhopavi but to be honest I think all acts playing the festival deserve a mention! From solo acoustic acts, to fiddles and drums and a 4-piece alternative rock band there is something for all tastes... you just need to decide which session to attend (you could go for all 3!)...
Navy Party vs Pirate Party - A little birdie has told us that Inshriach may be getting low on their 43% gin again so looks like the Navy Party is back in action, so don't miss their quirky takes on classic cocktails at the gin truck. For those of you wanting something a little spicy visit the good ship Wester Spirit Co for bangin’ rum cocktails and hearty shenanigans!
Farewell Festival Cider - It's with a heavy heart that we say farewell to our special farmhouse Festival Cider from Thistly Cross Cider, as #northhopavi will be its final outing! This delicious cider has gone down a storm at all our festivals this year so don't miss your chance to try it - use your token you receive on arrival to try a ½ pint.
Spud the Piper - As well as being a good friend, Spud is also pretty famous around the Highlands and can be found piping many a bride and entrance... surely no better way to welcome you all to North Hop Aviemore!?
All the way from London - I couldn't possibly finish off my festival recommendations without giving a shout out to the Brewheadz crew! These Italian lads are smashing out some awesome beers down in London and they are coming all the way up to snowy Aviemore to let you all try them. Make sure you don’t miss their special BrewDog collab beer!
I haven't really scratched the surface yet on all the amazing products, people, and music acts that will be joining us in Aviemore this weekend but we’ve got a van to load and a festival to run so that's your lot for now! See you in Aviemore #northhopavi
