Sniffing Out Dog Days Gin

Tuesday 30th May 2017

Just over two weeks to go until North Hop Glasgow and we are beyond excited to have Persie Gin distilling the special Festival Gin! Tasters and bottle sales of the North Hop Festival Gin will be available at the festival in SWG3 on 16 and 17 June and you can buy your tickets here.

In the meantime, we caught up with the Team at Persie Gin to find out a bit more about their gins, the background on the North Hop Glasgow Festival Gin - aptly named for the summer festival theme as “Dog Days Gin” - and more specifically, the perfect serve for this unique gin.

Tell us a bit about Persie Gin?
Persie Gin is considered a nose candy for gin-lovers! The team at Persie Distillery in Perthshire has developed a family of aromatic gins, all hand-crafted in small batches in their award-winning steading-turned-distillery in Glenshee. Our current collection includes a gin with Zesty Citrus; Herbs and a Sweet and Nutty variation. The brand new addition to the line-up is Dog Days Gin – created specially for North Hop Glasgow.

What’s the story behind the Festival Gin?
The Persie Distillery team wanted to create a gin that matched the mood of the Glasgow summer festival! We wanted a gin that brought to mind lazy holidays filled with hot, sultry days when you could kick back, put your feet up and relax with a cold drink...Dog Days Gin does exactly that; it is built for a long and strong gin and tonic with plenty of ice and citrus garnish.

What can we expect from Dog Days Gin?
The North Hop Festival Gin has a fresh citrus nose with delicate woody notes. Clean and smooth, it has a traditional base of pine and citrus, enlivened by gentle spices. This is a tremendously light and citrusy gin, perfect for the gentle warmth of summer days and a North Hop summer festival!

What’s the perfect service for the Festival Gin?
Dog Days Gin is best served with orange and lime peel as garnish to complement the citrus botanicals.

Can you give us a simple cocktail recipe for Dog Days Gin?
The White Lady is a citrus blast in a cold cocktail glass! This is a sipping drink, so take your time to savour it during a warm sunset.

50ml Dog Days Gin
25ml Triple Sec
25ml Lemon Juice

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker along with half a cup of ice. Shake until cold and strain into a Martini glass. Enjoy!

Dog Days Gin will be available to taste and buy exclusively from the Persie Gin stand at North Hop Glasgow on 16 and 17 June. If you haven’t already got your tickets, there’s no time to waste – http://tickets-scotland.com/nor14
